Maeva (Welcome) from French Polynesia

It was a very warm, crystal-clear blue water welcome from Moorea as we arrived by ferry from Tahiti on Friday morning. We ended up spending the first night at a hotel in Papeete, the largest city and capital of French Polynesia. From the ferry port, we could see the looming mountains of Moorea, often called the little sister of Tahiti. Upon reaching the island, Moorea welcomed us with nothing less than the picturesque blue waters of her lagoon and breathtaking mountains that rose steeply up from the surrounding sea. The closer our ferry pulled into the port, the more we could see the lush and rich green landscape that appeared before our eyes.

I’ll only say this one more time, but it was truly paradise we arrived into.

And finally the view from the place I’ll be spending the next three months, Gump Research Station, which sits along Cooks Bay, Moorea.
